Sell-out concerts
When I suggest tickets to extremely popular concert should be allocated by auction, many humans counter that this would be ‘unfair’, as it may exclude poorer fans from the concert.
If concert-goers really believed in fairness, inside the venue they would arrange themselves in height order, so that fellow fans had the best chance to see the stage.
That they don’t makes me believe that the aggregate concert-goer is secretly selfish.
Humans’ disproportionate believe in the likelihood of their own success (‘I will be able to buy a ticket within the first ten seconds of them being put on-sale’).
(Some) human’s belief that some forms of culture (including popular music) should be accessible to all, married with their aversion to price discrimination.
